Nefertiti’s Sister by Felicia Roche

Nefertiti's sister by Felicia Roche

Nefertiti’s Sister takes place in a historically accurate ancient Egypt of the 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom—the time of Nefertiti and her husband, King Akhenaten, as well as ultimately by the famous “boy king” Tut.

The story centers around a clutch of royal women who are doing everything they can to keep each other safe and supported in a dominantly patriarchal culture, particularly in the areas of sex, politics, love, and birth. Out of necessity, a life-saving scheme is hatched that not only plunges the women involved into a conspiracy far over their heads but also leaves their mark forever on history.

Along the way, we learn that every woman has a story, ranging from forced marriage, tragic deaths, and murder and women loving women in a society where there are no sexual taboos. Add innovative ideas about birth, sisterhood, secrets, and feminism, and you get a story of Egypt never told before.
